Music Publisher Makes Cash Deal With BMG

Music publisher Chrysalis has accepted a joint cash offer from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR) and German media group Bertelsmann in a deal that values the British company at £107.4 million.

Shareholders in Chrysalis, which owns the rights to music by Blondie, David Bowie and Elvis Presley, will receive 160 pence in cash for each share held – a premium of 45.5 per cent to the closing price on October 29 this year.
BMG Luxco, a joint venture by KKR and Bertelsmann, will acquire the music company. BMG chief executive officer Hartwig Masuch says: ‘The acquisition of Chrysalis represents an important step forward in our strategy as we build a major, global music rights business.’
Based in London, Chrysalis specialises in music publishing, copyright ownership, artist management and entertainment product distribution. Chris Wright, chairman and co-founder of Chrysalis, said: ‘The deal marks the end of one era and the start of another for Chrysalis, a company which has been at the heart of the music industry since I founded it jointly with my original partner, Terry Ellis, more than four decades ago.’

Lisa Marie Attends Anna Sui's Book Signing In London

A new book, which celebrates the career of New York's 'pirate queen of boho chic', the designer, Anna, Sui, reveals all - and is a walk down memory lane for all with a fascination for 'The Supers' and eclectic style with a rock 'n' roll edge.
Kate Moss poses as a 'Calamity Jane' with attitude, in a suede bikini-top, thonged jeans and feathered hat, from an early editorial shoot. Naomi Campbell, Cristy Turlington and Linda Evangelista take to the catwalk as 'Babydoll Brides' for Anna Sui's summer 1994 catwalk show. And Naomi is seen, way back in 1991, giving her famous over-the-shoulder, sultry pout, on the catwalk, in a black PVC biker jacket and checked micro-kilt.
Other pictures feature a cast of cult icons and celebrities, including Madonna, Sofia Coppola, Stevie Nicks, Rolling Stone Keith Richards' wife Patti Hansen with the couple's daughters Theodora and Alexandra, Lenny Kravitz, Anita Pallenberg, Karen Elson, and Agyness Deyn - all wearing Anna Sui and just some of the fans of her magic carpet ride approach to fashion. There's even a shot of Twiggy, in multi-coluor stripes from head to foot, photographed by Steven Meisel for Italian Vogue in 1993.
The book is packed with editorial shots and campaign images by the world's leading fashion photographers, including Ellen Von Unwerth, Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Gilles Bensimon, Craig McDean, Patrick Demarchelier, Bruce Weber, Sarah Moon, Steven Meisel, Peter Lindberg and Steven Klein.
'Anna Sui', by Andrew Bolton, the curator of The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and with a preface by Jack White of The White Stripes, and an introduction by Steven Meisel - two of Anna Sui's long-established friends - is the first to chronicle the entire scope of her twenty years at the head of the boho-rock style brigade, from her first-ever catwalk show in 1991, through sketch and mood boards to catwalk and glossy editorial spreads.
Anna Sui is in London this week for a book signing at Liberty of London, at 6.30pm, on Wednesday, December 1st. She will be accompanied by three of her best friends and fans, Naomi Campbell, Lisa Marie Presley and Martine Sitbon.
Anna Sui's collections are available from Liberty, Regent Street, London, W1/ liberty.co.uk; and Fenwick, New Bond Street, London, W1; 020 7629 9161

Walking Tall Trail To Include Graceland

State officials are trying to spur tourism in West Tennessee by establishing a new driving trail featuring 196 points of interest and historic sites.
The self-guided Walking Tall Trail runs through 360 miles of road in eight West Tennessee counties.
It includes Adamsville, home of Sheriff Buford Pusser of "Walking Tall" movie fame; Shiloh, the site of a key Civil War battle; and Memphis, the longtime home of rock 'n roll king Elvis Presley.
The concept is similar to the White Lightning Trail, established in June. That trail retraces a network of roadways that spans across nine counties in northeast Tennessee.
Tennessee tourism and transportation officials are holding events in Adamsville and Memphis to commemorate the Walking Tall Trail.

If you live in the Memphis area....

A great stocking stuffer for Elvis fans! Well-known radio personality George Klein will be on location for a signing of his book “ELVIS – My Best Man” on Saturday, December 4th from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Kroger Trinity Commons store, 676 Germantown Parkway in Memphis.

Now a major Memphis media personality and host for the past two decades of 'Elvis Hour' on WMC 79 AM, George has received numerous awards for his work in the field, including "Award of the Year" from the Memphis Music Board of Directors, "No. 1 Disc Jockey" from BILLBOARD magazine, and the "Memphis Legend Award" from Harrah's Casino.
