Sonny Burgess Joins Million Dollar Quartet Tonight!

Rockabilly vet Sonny Burgess recorded his first hit, 1956’s “We Wanna Boogie,” for Sam Phillips’s Sun Records. Burgess headlines the Abbey Pub tomorrow night ; tonight, he’ll (sort of) revisit Sun’s Memphis heyday, sitting in with the actor-musicians who play Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis in the long-running jukebox musical Million Dollar Quartet at the Apollo Theater in Chicago . Burgess will join the MDQ cast for the show’s encore; following the show, rock historian and Million Dollar Quartet co-writer Colin Escott (a newly minted Grammy nominee for his production work on the Hank Williams box set The Complete Mother’s Best Recordings…Plus!) will lead a Q&A session. ELVIS WEEKEND @ BAY STREET THEATRE JANUARY 7 – 8

December 1, 2010 (Sag Harbor, NY) -  Bay Street Theatre is pleased to present an Elvis Weekend! LEGENDS: ELVIS & FRIENDS will be presented on Friday, January 7 at 8 pm. After the film, there will be a dance concert with GENE CASEY & THE LONE SHARKS. Tickets are $20. The classic Elvis film BLUE HAWAII will be presented on Saturday, January 8 at 8 pm. Tickets for BLUE HAWAII are $5 at the door. Michael Jackson has been nominated for a posthumous Grammy award in the Best Male Pop Vocal Performance category for This Is It. MJ is up against John Mayer, Michael Buble, Adam Lambert, & Bruno Mars . Bruno Mars is well known by Elvis fans because he kicked off his musical career as the world's youngest ETA. He performed in Memphis in the early 90's and had a part in the movie, Honeymoon in Vegas . Bruno is the only ETA to ever actually "make it" in the music business. This will be Michael Jackson's 14th Grammy when he wins this year. The 53rd annual Grammys air on CBS on February 13, 2011 at 8 PM EST.

Lee Harvey Oswald's Coffin @ Auction

Current bid  $6,727 Just when you think you have seen it all! An LA auction house is selling Lee Harvey Oswald's coffin. The original pine version that once held the remains of the man who killed President John Kennedy in 1963. Oswald's body was exhumed in 1981 to verify the remains and later reburied in a different coffin. Bidding for the original was at more than $6,000 Wednesday. Separately, the auction house also is selling the embalming table & tools used to prepare Oswald's body (at $500 Wednesday), and a very small cut out piece of the limousine seat on which Kennedy was sitting when shot ($2,000 Wednesday). All three auctions end Dec. 16.
