New Elvis Tell Alls.....Fans and Facebook

OK, so I am not mentioning any names or linking to any news sites because I don't want to give attention to ANY "NEW ELVIS TELLS ALLS" from so called "FRIENDS" or so called "FAMILY". I have noticed since Facebook, SOME fans no longer care what certain people say about Elvis or projects they take part in that are negative to Elvis' image. They forget books, TV interviews, tabloids from the past. Why? Because they now are FACEBOOK FRIENDS with these people. I am so glad, I was part of the Elvis World when fans, Graceland employees, Elvis friends and family banned together and fought against any negative press or late night talk show jokes about Elvis. You don't see that today at all. The Elvis and Nixon movie was a game changer for me. So many friends would talk to me about how hurtful it was, how mad they were. I got hundreds of emails about it. So many fueled my fire. But VERY FEW would stand up publicly and say how they felt. And thei

The brothers fused Grand Ole Opry star Bill Monroe’s rapid rhythms with the mountain folk of groups such as the Carter Family, and added a distinctive three-part harmony. Carter Stanley died of liver disease in 1966. Ralph Stanley’s a cappella dirge “O Death” from the “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” movie soundtrack introduced him to a new generation of fans in 2000. Tara Thompson draws influence from her cousin Loretta Lynn

Image
For East Tennessee native Tara Thompson, a career in country music wasn't just a career choice; it's the family business. Thompson, whose grandmother is first cousins with country legend Loretta Lynn, draws influence from her famous family member and prides herself on her traditional sound. The country great has taught Thompson many things over the years but her most important lesson is "be yourself." "We're a close family and she's given me great advice," Thompson told FOX411 Country of Lynn. "When I opened up for her one time and told her I'm putting together an album, I told her, 'Don't worry, I'm keeping it really country.' She told me, 'Don't worry about keeping it country, just be you.' And I just so happen to be really country!"She added, "Loretta told me to be as real as I can and I really took that advice because I think she's the realest person I've ever met. I get a lot of

Chris Stapleton talks about making it in Country Music

Image
Stapleton spoke on the phone last week with Music critic, Dan DeLuca before a show at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville. You did pretty good at the Country Music Television awards the other night, getting breakthrough video of the year for "Fire Away." But you didn't clean up the way you did at the CMA awards. CS:  We were really fortunate. That was a good night. I was shocked to even be nominated and to win any of them, let alone all of the ones we were nominated for. That's changed your life, I would guess. CS:  It flipped the switch. It meant we could play bigger venues. And there was a huge record-sales impact. It made a big difference. You grew up in Kentucky. How rural was it? CS:  It was in eastern Kentucky. A really small town, about 200 people. My dad was a coal miner. My mom was a stay-at-home mom, but she worked as a clinical dietitian. We all played music, but my brother and sister just went on to do other things. What did you list

Country Music Songwriter Bobby Braddock talks to Variety Magazine

Image
From Variety Magazine : Country Music Hall of Fame songwriter Bobby Braddock’s illustrious career includes penning classics like Tammy Wynette’s “D-I-V-O-R-C-E” ; discovering, signing, and producing Blake Shelton’s first hits; and, most notably, writing (with fellow country legend Curly Putman) what is regularly voted “greatest country song of all time,” the George Jones epic tearjerker “He Stopped Loving Her Today.” While a staff writer at Tree Music in the mid-1960s, Braddock got the attention of Variety when he inked an artist deal with MGM Records. Last year he published a richly detailed memoir, “Bobby Braddock: A Life on Nashville’s Music Row” (Vanderbilt University Press) , and recently in Nashville, Braddock was honored by his publisher, Sony/ATV, for his 50 years on staff, a stretch that includes 13 No. 1 hits. V:  By 1966 you were well on your way to prominence as a songwriter. Was performing your ultimate goal?  BB: That MGM deal was one of five record deals

Riley Keough talks about watching The Girlfriend Experience with Mom, Lisa Marie Presley (VIDEO)

Last week Riley Keough was in NYC where she appeared on NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote her show, The Girlfriend Experience which is currently airing on Starz. In the show, where she plays a law student who becomes a high-end call girl, her character is seen masturbating, inserting a tampon, and even having wild sex with clients. Here she talks about watching the show with her mom, Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley. She admitted: 'I have sat down with mom and watched it. I fast-forwarded some parts.' 'I haven't shown my dad, but my mom is very young for a mother and kind of progressive and understands. 'I don't have very conservative parents. She liked it.' BIM:  Sounds like Lisa Marie is a very supportive parent. I wonder how Granddad would handle this if he were still living? Sorry, I'm an Elvis fan, What Would Elvis Think? always is a thought! I couldn't find a clip of just Riley

Riley Keough met with call girls while researching her role in The Girlfriend Experience

The Hollywood Reporter interviewed Riley Keough about her role on Starz, The Girlfriend Experience. HR asked Elvis Presley's granddaughter if she did any research into high-end sex work. Here's Riley's answer: I met with call girls — and they weren't crazy! They were actually very smart women; most of them were probably more intelligent than me. It kind of put me in my place, and it opened my eyes to the fact that there are intelligent college students putting themselves through school that way and enjoy it. I didn't know anything about sex work before, but it was fine because I was playing Christine as she discovers this. BIM:  Riley has never come across as DUMB to me. Although this show is not my cup of tea and I worry about FREAKS doing weird things after seeing this. Watching the first few episodes, I was a bit uncomfortable and embarrassed seeing ALL of Elvis Presley's granddaughter and the things she had to do for the role. But That&

David Allan Coe on probation while continuing to pay IRS

Image
“Outlaw” country singer David Allan Coe is now a convicted felon. The singer has been ordered to pay the IRS more than $980,000 after pleading guilty to tax evasion and failing to pay $466,000 in back taxes, interest and penalties, prosecutors said. Coe, 76, was also sentenced Monday in Cincinnati federal court to three years’ probation. The singer pleaded guilty last year to one count of impeding and obstructing administration of tax laws. Coe — who cultivated a rabid fan following as one the leading voices of the outlaw country scene of the ‘70s — put out string of hits like “Mona Lisa’s Lost Her Smile,” “Now I Lay Me Down to Cheat” and “Jack Daniels If You Please.” Federal prosecutors said the singer played more than 100 concerts a year between 2008 and 2013, but asked to be paid in cash to avoid paying Uncle Sam.  Coe wouldn’t take $50 bills, however, because “he believed they were bad luck and would not gamble with them,” according to the tax agency. “Mr.

Meet Elvis Presley Handwriting Expert, Rich Consola

Image
Rich Consola of Amherst saw Elvis Presley in concert twice at Memorial Auditorium, in 1957 and in 1976. That was it. And yet “The King” has been Consola’s focus for decades. “I’ve studied Elvis Presley’s autograph every day of my life for the past 25 years,” Consola said. Through sheer will, untold hours of study, and the gift of being “kind of OCD,” Consola has become an internationally respected authenticator of Elvis’ signature, assessing the loops and swoops to pick out the genuine from the counterfeit. Not that Elvis has made that easy. “He signed a lot of autographs, but the thing about Elvis is that he almost never signed his name twice the same way,” said Consola, a trim, gray-haired man who has two Elvis tattoos on his right arm, one the image of a famous photo from the 1957 Aud concert by former Buffalo News photographer Robert L. Smith, the other Elvis’ own “TCB” design, which stands for “taking care of business.” Consola loves to talk about Elvis, and

Elvis Presley's stage worn scarves made in the USA!

Opportunity Village is a Las Vegas nonprofit organization which back in the day, made those scarves that Elvis would pass out during his shows. Opportunity Village continues to make similar scarves today, both as a tribute to its long association with Elvis and to raise money for its programs that assist Southern Nevadans with intellectual disabilities. And even if today’s scarves haven’t been kissed by The King, they still can evoke a bit of Las Vegas’ colorful past. Each of the 100 percent silk scarves is designed and hand-painted by a client of Opportunity Village, whose name and bio appears on each one. The scarves can be online (www.opportunityvillage.org/collections/scarves-ties) or in the gift shop at Opportunity Village’s Engelstad campus, 6050 S. Buffalo Drive. The scarves begin at $20, are of various widths and lengths, and, for most people, are indistinguishable from scarves that shoppers would find in department stores. The story behind them is just as color
