Mary Tyler Moore passes away at age 80

MTM's longtime rep, Mara Buxbaum, issued a statement to TMZ saying, "Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine."

"A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile."

Mary had been on a respirator for more than a week. She was taken off life support Tuesday night.

For me, Mary Tyler Moore meant everything growing up. I would come home from school on lunch and watch the Mary Tyler Moore Show and Rhoda. Mary was everything I wanted to be. She dressed so smart, her hair was perfect, and most of all, she was an independent woman making it on her own. Just like my own mother. And this was something my mother told me all the time. I adored Mary Richards. The theme song to the Mary Tyler Moore show will inspire you and like it says, it can take a nothing day and make it all seem worth while. You are guaranteed a smile after listening to it and watching Mary Tyler Moore and her YUGE smile!

Hudson News
Back in 1988, Mary Tyler Moore came to my hometown and filmed a new tv series called, Annie McGuire. The show only lasted one season. But it was based on a woman living here in Bayonne. They filmed in many locations in Bayonne including Broadway, Brady's Dock and the old Sunrise Tavern uptown.

Elvis Presley fans will best remember Mary for co-starring with Elvis in the 1969 film, Change of habit. Elvis plays Dr. John Carpenter, an alias he will use later in life for privacy. Moore plays Michelle Gallagher, a co-worker at the clinic they both work at in the ghetto. Elvis is unaware Michelle is actually a nun!

Ed Asner, her co-star on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "my heart goes out to you and your family. Know that I love you and believe in your strength." We fans know that EP was there to greet you as well. Rest in peace Mary! We love you! Godspeed! And just watch this and I PROMISE it will bring a smile to your face! If you can, sing along with me!

THANK YOU MARY! We love you always!
