Joe Walsh playing Graceland for almost 2 grand per person and bringing politics because Elvis would want that......My Rant

Image
Joe Walsh is about to get all shook up at the King of Rock’s house! Look at those prices....so much for the SUPER 8 prices they were hyping before the hotel was built. The guitar great is set to play a residency at Graceland, Elvis Presley‘s iconic Memphis estate, as part of his 2017 tour. Kicking off Saturday, May 6, the three-day event will include a host of treats for fans, including an acoustic set, Q&A and photo ops, not to mention a tour of the historic mansion and accommodations at the newly opened Guest House at Graceland hotel. “This is something I’ve always wanted to do: Take an evening, invite an audience and just be me,” Walsh says in a statement, before going on to promise some pretty amazing things. “What you can expect is me playing music, answering almost all questions anyone would ask (except the ones that may incriminate me), a big screen PowerPoint presentation put together and narrated by me, guitar shop talk, slide guitar 101, true stories o...

EPE announces pricing for New Elvis Presley's Memphis Complex (UPDATED)

Image
EPE announced pricing for the NEW Elvis Presley's Memphis complex. "With the opening of “Elvis Presley’s Memphis” (EPM), Graceland’s new, 200,000-square-foot entertainment and museum complex on March 2, 2017, a ticket for “Elvis Presley’s Memphis” (either with the Mansion tour or by itself) will enable visitors to explore everything that EPM has to offer, including a new Elvis Presley career museum, a new Automobile Museum, plus themed exhibits, gift shops and restaurants. Just as the exhibit spaces at Graceland Plaza required a ticket in the past, this new facility will do the same, however tickets will be scanned at a turnstile entry point which will then give visitors free roam of the facility to explore all of its themed spaces. You may come and go from the complex as many times as you wish on the day of your tour." If you do not purchase a ticket that includes EPM, you will still be able to access the following: Vernon’s Smokehouse restaurant Ice c...

Prince Museum to host 4 day Celebration on first anniversary of his death

Image
DJ Magazine reports Prince’s estate will host a four-day celebration in honor of the 'Purple Rain' singer. The event will take place at Prince’s home-turned-museum, Paisley Park, and will feature guided tours, panel discussions and live music from some of Prince’s former collaborators.  BIM:    Sound Familiar? Yes, exactly! Elvis Week. The celebration will take place during the first anniversary of Prince's passing. I bet a vigil will be part of the plan as well. There's two very good reasons for that. 1. The company now managing Graceland and it's tour operations also is starting up Paisley Place. 2. Our very own, Angie Marchese, Director of Archives is also now part of Paisley Place. I am sure her years of experience and knowledge are helping build and protect the legacy of Prince just as she has done for Elvis Presley. New Power Generation, the Revolution and 3rdeyegirl are set to perform, with tickets currently on sale for $ 499 for g...

Memphis Police Officer on the Protest @ Graceland last night

Image
Written by MPD officer James Schmedes about the protest tonight at Graceland. "So there we were, about a block south of Graceland. The call had come down for the riot team to move into position, the protesters were getting out of hand. So we dressed in as the rain began to fall and got into position. The line looked like some kind of modern day Roman legion with armor of plastic and Kevlar instead of leather and bronze. Hickory sticks and pistols took the place of sword and spear. We stood there waiting for the order to move up. Ready to go and feeling that anticipation before the action, time seemed to stand still for a moment when lightning cracked across the sky above us. Imagine, just at the second when things are going to get hairy four things happen at once. Lightning flashes. From behind us Elvis starts singing " Are You Lonesome Tonight". The rain comes down by the bucket and everyone is drenched instantly. The crowd disperses. So I ask you, did ...
