Joe Walsh playing Graceland for almost 2 grand per person and bringing politics because Elvis would want that......My Rant
Joe Walsh is about to get all shook up at the King of Rock’s house!
Look at those prices....so much for the SUPER 8 prices they were hyping before the hotel was built. |
The guitar great is set to play a residency at Graceland, Elvis Presley‘s iconic Memphis estate, as part of his 2017 tour. Kicking off Saturday, May 6, the three-day event will include a host of treats for fans, including an acoustic set, Q&A and photo ops, not to mention a tour of the historic mansion and accommodations at the newly opened Guest House at Graceland hotel.
“This is something I’ve always wanted to do: Take an evening, invite an audience and just be me,” Walsh says in a statement, before going on to promise some pretty amazing things.
“What you can expect is me playing music, answering almost all questions anyone would ask (except the ones that may incriminate me), a big screen PowerPoint presentation put together and narrated by me, guitar shop talk, slide guitar 101, true stories of road craziness and a discussion of how to destroy hotel rooms and of course playing more music.”
But, as the old sales pitch goes, that’s not all! “I’m particularly excited to talk about my Elvis experiences—what he meant to me and what I meant to him,” he continues.
“We’ll conclude with a town hall meeting, including a strategy and platform discussion for my candidacy to run for President of the United States in 2020 and sing ‘God Bless America’ or something else (Elvis would want that).”
At 44 seconds, Elvis talks about how he keeps his political views to himself.
BIM:
No matter what side you are on, we don't want to hear about politics! ENOUGH!
Honestly, I personally am sick of people, businesses or even the estate hiding behind, "Elvis would have liked or wanted this." It's brainwashing, manipulation and guilt tactics.
Elvis is gone, no one can speak for him. They pulled this with the Jerusalem trips they were hawking.
Personally, my opinion is Elvis did not even like to raise the price of his tickets, he would be horrified by the prices of this hotel. So much for the Super 8 prices they were trying to sell us on before it was built. I never believed that.
I know the fans who support all things EPE are trying to be supportive and loyal, but honestly if you are supportive or not, you are not a better fan. We are all Elvis fans.
Many fans feel bullied when they speak out against EPE and the prices by other fans. We all love Elvis, please keep that in mind. Try to understand everyone's situation.
But we ALL have a right to speak up about what we like and dislike. From the emails and calls from fellow fans, I can tell you many fans feel like the owners have let fans down and that fans are not important to them. Many of us have been going to Memphis twice a year or once a year since the beginning. And these fans feel left behind. We fans made this a success and this is the thanks we get? Loyalty has not paid off. I know a few fans who had to cancel their trip to Elvis Week 2017 because of the high prices. Fans tell me the prices and additional charges at the new hotel and how they have to pay the deposit and have the final payment PAID in FULL a month before their stay, It's insane! Long time Elvis fans who have been going from day one, feel left high and dry. Many also resent the fact, we have YET to know the details of events for Elvis Week.
You know many fans have a limited budget and use the schedule to decide what events they really want to attend, Can afford to go to, and some fans only get a certain amount of vacation time. Many can not ask for vacation from mid week to mid week for example. Fans need to know this so they can ask for vacation time, and book airfares, hotels and rental cars.
It's already May and We YET to have more details. When Patsy Andersen was at Graceland, the day we left in January, the details for August were soon in our mailboxes, and when we left Elvis Week, details for January were also soon in our mailboxes. What goes on now is unprofessional and just plain SLOPPY!
Finally, you can go see Joe Walsh along with Tommy Petty and The Heartbreakers at the FEDEX Forum in Memphis on May 8th at 7 pm from 10.00 to 33.00 dollars. Check this link,

It looks like the new EPE and guesthouse is not about Elvis anymore and instead about high end entertainment. Very sad. That's not very much like the Elvis I love.
