Sun Records Season 2 needs to happen!

Image
CMT’s head of development Jayson Dinsmore told Deadline . “Originally we had planned for it to be a three-night events, and we morphed the development into a limited-run series,” Dinsmore said of Sun Records, which got a boost by airing behind Nashville. “It always was to be a limited-run series. It did extremely well but there are no current plans for additional episodes. We may revisit you never know because it did quite well.” But a few weeks ago, I was in Nashville and a big birdie told me there is a possibility Sun Records season 2 will return. Now whether that is on CMT, or a streaming service like Netflix or Hulu, time will tell. I will update you if there is a way to let the folks in tv land know we want to see it return.....I will add those details here very soon! Personally, I think tv shows do not get a chance to warm up to audiences. They get cancelled too quick. I would like to see a few changes to the show but I think it is important to continue. There are so many...

CMT Sun Records Episode One Review

Image
The reviews among Elvis fans are mixed for Sun Records , the new drama on CMT which premiered last night. Most LOVE it , Some don't like it at all, and others want to give it a chance. Myself, I LIKE it . Last night was an introduction to all the characters . I think the writers and producers did a fine job summing up all that early history in less than an hour! I loved how they summed up Colonel Parker. It was PERFECT! I also liked the inclusion of Eddy Arnold. See, it's THOSE DETAILS that make the difference! Very Cool!  Details like this take time and KNOWLEDGE! And that is something most TV shows and movies don't have! Hats off to the writers! Very much appreciated, well at least by me! I love when the Colonel tells the boy he can cover the Bob Wills posters, "Cause Bob is a friend of mine and he said it would be okay." And then when Colonel goes in and sells the record store a hundred records and even gets the guy to pay the p...

Don't Miss CMT Sun Records Tonight @ 10 PM EST!

Image
CMT's premiere of Sun Records airs tonight right after Nashville . The first episode is titled, "706 Union." Description: Sam Phillips moves his family to Memphis to open a recording studio to look for his first hit musical act, but instead rekindles a steamy affair. Young Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash struggle at home. Sun Records airs tonight on CMT at 10:02 PM EST . The show is only scheduled for 8 episodes for now. From the interviews I have seen with the cast, they all seem to have a great appreciation for the music and the legends their characters are based on. They talk with great affection for the artists and the city of Memphis. Tune in tonight and check it out for yourself!

Elvis Presley - NEW CD Set mixed at Phillips Recording Studio, Memphis, TN with special guests

Image
L to R, Jerry Phillips, James Burton and Matt In early May, we reported some interesting Elvis Presley happenings afoot at the Phillips Recording Service. Although details were vague, officials from Sony/Legacy — the custodians of the Presley catalog — and longtime Elvis band members were on hand at Phillips to work on tracks for an upcoming project. Though unconfirmed officially, the work was reportedly for a 40th anniversary package marking the King's 1976 home recording sessions at Graceland's Jungle Room. This past week, Sony/Legacy finally did confirm that a two-disc collection titled "Way Down in the Jungle Room" will come out Aug. 5, just in time for annual Elvis Week festivities. The double disc set rounds up the results of sessions Presley cut in the Jungle Room in winter and fall 1976, with a core of longtime TCB band members including guitarist James Burton and drummer Ronnie Tutt. Material from the recording would be spread out over a pair of L...
